Youngsters get a taste for cricket at Cookhill

COOKHILL Cricket Club geared up for the start of All Stars Cricket at the club for a second year running by providing a free taster session attended by more than children.

The youngsters enjoyed a fun-packed hour of games and a special visit from All Stars mascot Twinkle on Sunday.

All Stars Cricket is an England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) initiative, aimed at providing both boys and girls aged five to eight with a great introduction to cricket over an eight-week programme of non-stop fun sessions.

The programme is delivered at more than 2,000 centres across the country, of which Cookhill CC is one. Every child who registers receives a free a back-pack full of goodies including a cricket bat, ball, activity book, personalised shirt and cap.

Cookhill’s All Stars activator Phil Smith, who will lead the programme to be delivered, said: “The ECB have developed a fantastic initiative to get kids engaged with cricket and those attending All Stars Sessions along with their parents are guaranteed to have great fun with this game-based programme.”

Sessions at Cookhill start on May 19 between 10-11am and run every Saturday for eight weeks. To register, visit allstarscricket.co.uk/cookhill.
