Winning weekend for White Hart teams

WHITE Hart’s Saturday and Sunday teams won their weekend league matches and all currently occupy promotion positions in their respective divisions.

In the Warwickshire and Worcestershire Premier League, the Redditch club remain top of Division Six following a hard earned 223-172 win at Tyseley WMC.

Recent recruit Gary Bennett led the way with a fine 21-1 victory and was well supported by Ken Brown 21-6, Mike Estell 21-8, Neil Laxton 21-12, Stuart Rice 21-10, Graham Arnott and Dave Kings both 21-15.

In the Sunday Northfield & District League Division Two, White Hart A jumped into second place after an impressive 168-121 home victory over Wythall A.




All eight bowlers recorded winning cards – Tom Hawkes 21-9, Paul Matthews 21-14, Kirk Wright 21-16, Mike Estell and Graham Arnott both 21-17, Norman Batchelor 21-18, Ian Humphreys 21-20 and captain Mick Perrins 21-10.

The B team also remain second in Division Four following a narrow 143-131 win at Hall Green B. Hart had five winners – Sheila Humphreys 21-7, Gary Bennett 21-13, Anne Batchelor 21-18, Brian Chatterley 21-19 and Gill Croft, who is currently top of the division averages, 21-11.


In the SW Birmingham Over 60s League Division Three, White Hart B reversed the previous week’s defeat at Central Edgbaston with a 95-77 home victory.

Wins for Tom Hawkes 21-5 and Kirk Wright 21-6 compensated for two heavy defeats for Hart and the match was all square at 53-53 with four completed ties on the scoreboard.

Victories for Rob Faulks 21-9 and Sheila Humphreys 21-15 then gave the Redditch club the lion’s share of the points, keeping them in a respectable mid-table position.

White Hart suffered their first defeat of the season in Yardley Wood Superleague Division Three at RABL, who ran out easy 163-70 winners.

Captain Kirk Wright was the only away winner, 21-16. Hart drop to third position but stay well in the promotion hunt.

In Heart of England League Division One, White Hart A had only two winning home cards against a strong Woodbourne A team who ran out 160-113 victors.

Paul Matthews 21-20 and Stephen Turner 14 gave Hart two points but they continue to find the going tough in a division of quality.

The B team, however, are ten points clear at the top of Division Four following a fine 133-116 win at Alcester B. Hart had four comfortable winners – Tim Hollingshead 21-3, Anne Batchelor 21-4, Kirk Wright 21-11 and Gary Bennett 21-14.

In HOE Over 60s League, White Hart A continue to struggle in the top flight and were beaten 122-96 at King George V. Norman Batchelor 21-18 and Ken Brown 21-20 were the only away winners.

The B team jumped to second spot in Division Two after a 121-88 victory over Ye Olde Knowle B. Winning cards came from Graham Arnott 21-9, Mick Perrins 21-12, Anne Batchelor 21-15 and captain Brian Chatterley 21-15.
