HAVING been relegated to Division Six of the Warwickshire/Worcestershire League, White Hart gained a fine 213-204 win at Romsley & Hunnington to start their campaign in style.
They had six winners – Mike Estell 21-6, Dave Edwards 21-8, Mick Perrins 21-10, Graham Arnott 21-15, Sheila Humphreys 21-18 and captain Ian Humphreys 21-20.
In Heart of England Thursday League Division One, White Hart A were narrowly beaten 148-143 by a strong visiting Baldwin A team despite having numerous winners – Mick Perrins 21-16, Ian Humphreys 21-14, Stephen Turner 21-20 and captain Matt Higgins 21-15.
The B team won their opening Division Four match at Hockley Heath B 146-127 with winning cards from John Meredith 21-5, Anne Batchelor 21-16, Rob Faulks 21-17, Dave Edwards 21-16 and captain Norman Batchelor 21-10.
The HOE Over 60s A team comfortably won their first round cup match 123-86 against Marston Green A, with five out of six winners – Tom Hawkes 21-11, Stephen Turner 21-18, Norman Batchelor 21-5, Rob Faulks 21-18 and Ian Humphreys 21-13.
The B team went out of the competition with a 113-98 defeat at Woodlands Park to Green Man A as they had just two winners – Sue Sugden 21-10 and Kirk Wright 21-19.
In Northfield & District League Division Two, White Hart A looked at one stage to have victory in their sights at Rubery Sheldon but the home team recovered to record a 142-127 win.
Hart had three winners – Norman Batchelor 21-12, Mike Estell 21-13 and Paul Matthews 21-12.
The B team stretched their lead at the top of Division Four with a very easy 161-99 victory at home to British Oak B as they had six winners – Neil Laxton 21-3, Gill Croft 21-4, Sheila Humphreys 21-14, Tom Hawkes 21-10, John Meredith 21-18 and captain Dave Edwards 21-8.
White Hart’s Yardley Wood Superleague team made a fine start to their Division Four campaign with a comfortable 160-84 home win over West Midlands Travel, with seven winners – Neil Laxton 21-4, Matt Higgins 21-5, Tim Hollingshead 21-8, Ged Dooner 21-9, Dave Kings 21-14, Stuart Wood 21-17 and captain Kirk Wright 21-6.
In the SW Birmingham League Over 60s League, White Hart A were soundly beaten 126-57 at Moseley A in Division One as only Graham Arnott and Ken Brown recorded double-figure scores.
The B team started their season with a home victory over Wootton Hall A in Division Three, with five out of six winners – Mick Perrins 21-7, Sheila Humphreys 21-15, Sue Sugden 21-17, Kirk Wright and Brian Chatterley both 21-19.
White Hart BC have a stall at the May Day event at Headless Cross Orchard on Bank Holiday Monday, when members of the public can learn what the club has to offer and have a go at crown green bowling over the road at the green.
