Whiston powers to victory in professional encounter

REDDITCH Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) trainer and coach James Whiston secured an impressive victory in his professional MMA fight.

Whiston dropped three stone in weight in the months leading up to the fight through a gruelling training regime of fitness, pads and technical sparring.

The event was hosted by Black Widow and held at the Supreme Banqueting & Conference venue in West Bromwich where hundreds of people turned up to watch the exciting line-up, including Whiston and his entourage of support from Redditch.

The Redditch man came out fired up in the first round and dominated his opponent with punishing blows to the head as he forced him into the corner of the ring with damaging leg kicks, which placed his opponent in the perfect position for Whiston to take a submission hold.

Applying a standing guillotine choke to his opponent, Whiston delivered repeated blows to his head and body.

His opponent was overwhelmed by the attack and left with little choice but to submit after no longer than one minute in the ring.

Whiston, who was delighted to have won, is now eager to get back in the ring and will be fighting again in Italy in September.

Redditch MMA is based at Redditch Boxing Academy in Matchborough Centre. For more information about Whiston’s classes, e-mail [email protected].
