Washout for Alvechurch and Studley beaten

Redditch Editorial 25th May, 2017   0

ALVECHURCH & Hopwood’s Worcestershire League Division Three fixture at home to Martley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Netherton’s match at home to leaders Kempsey was the only game in the division to beat the weather and the visitors’ seven-wicket victory moved them 32 points clear at the top.

Fourth placed Alvechurch host Five Ways Old Edwardians on Saturday.

STUDLEY’S batting woes continued in a six-wicket Warwickshire League Premier Division defeat at home to Rugby.

Only Brandon Miller (24) and Charlie Bass (22) made scores of any note in the hosts’ 124 all out in 40.3 overs in which they slipped from 35-0 to 41-5.

Bass took an early wicket in Rugby’s reply but Owen Edwards (30) steadied the ship and Rugby were never really in any trouble despite Andy Rhodes taking 2-31 off nine overs.

Basement side Studley visit Coleshill on Saturday when the league reverts to win/lose/draw format.
