TRYSTAN FINOCCHIARO’S first outing on his new KTM went incredibly well as he went three seconds per lap faster than everyone else on the same class.

The 2019 campaign started in style for the Redditch rider and the Transmec Group KTM Junior Team at the Cartagena circuit in southern Spain.

The 20-year-old completed a very successful and positive first test on his new KTM RC390R ahead of the British Superbikes season and he is now relishing the next tests at Silverstone on March 28.

“I’m confident from this test that we can fight for the championship. The bike is good, the team are working really well and we’re ticking every box we need to at the moment,” said Finocchiaro.

With the support of new partners Fracino and Xite energy, Finocchiaro enjoyed clocking the fastest time of the week for the 300s with consistent 1m, 47s lap times.

“The first contact with the bike was incredible. From the very first session I was blown away by every aspect of the bike,” Finocchiaro explained.

“The test itself went far better than expected. We found a good pace very quickly and we then found a solid base for the set-up, bagged a good lap time without any slipstream and did a lot of work on consistent pace.”

KTM and Finocchiaro will next hit the track at the official BSB test at Silverstone, which will also host the first round of the year for Finocchiaro’s Junior Supersport championship campaign.

The Redditch man added: “The goal is to win at Silverstone, so we need to make sure we have a good test there in March and hit the ground running.”
