REDDITCH Tigers and Studley Tae Kwon-Do had three students crowned champions as numerous medals were won at the British Tae Kwon-Do Championships in Birmingham.

A dozen club members were in action among the 2,000-strong field at the Barclaycard Arena and three were victorious, one was runner-up and three won medals in team sparring in their first competition.

Courtney Shaw became British champion to add to her English and Welsh Championship successes from earlier this year and she will be setting her sights on the World title in July next year.

Her sister Chardonnay Shaw was runner-up in her division. Chardonnay is a very talented student and should do very well in the future and again will be looking forward to the Worlds in July.

Mark Roberts also added the British title to his Welsh crown and is a very exciting talent for next year’s World Championships.

Maddison Ridgewell came away with the British title having fought very well in her four fights and debutant Rose Barnett won bronze in her tag team with two other girls. Fighting at red belt level, this is a brilliant result.

Jed Morcombe and Matthew Linton were runners-up in their first competition in the tag team event.

Instructor Mark Clews said: “We would also like to congratulate all of our other students who went along. For most of them it was their first competition and all should be very proud for giving it their best efforts.”
