Transmec backs junior Thai boxing star Ellie

YOUNG Redditch Thai boxer Ellie Pardy is aiming to reach the top of her sport – with a helping hand from logistics company Transmec UK.

The 14-year-old has shown her potential by winning a string of junior Muay Thai fights since she started at the age of six.

Already catching the eye of Team GB selectors thanks to some impressive victories on home soil, she travelled with the squad to compete in Lithuania earlier this year.

Sponsorship from Transmec, which has depots in Redditch and Worcester, will help to cover the costs of taking part in events held around the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

“I just love everything about the sport – the people, fitness and the fighting,” said Pardy.

“I’m really dedicated and determined to do well and I’m very grateful to Transmec for their support.”

Pardy trains three times each week, combining activity with her studies at RSA Academy Arrow Vale.

Her ultimate aim is to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris if Muay Thai gains full status after being provisionally recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

Transmec also sponsors another Redditch Thai boxer – 13-year-old George Rowand – who has also been selected by Team GB and won a gold medal at February’s International Federation of Martial Arts Muay Thai Baltic Open Championships in Lithuania.

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring Ellie. Like George, she enjoys what she does and has the potential to go far. We wish her the best of luck,” said Phil Thomas, Transmec UK’s sales manager.
