Top flight tennis beckons for Redditch HDA aces

REDDITCH HDA’s men’s A team are celebrating after securing promotion to the top flight of the south Warwickshire-based Wildmoor Spa Tennis League.

The Redditch team topped Division One by 15 points having won 12 of their matches, drew one and lost one to amass 46 points and will now look forward to Premier Division tennis in 2017.

The strong squad of players included Terry Iduitua, Tomas Cop, Ben Portman, Josh Yeng, Andrew Hanson, Lubo Smoliar, Tim Bradley, Felix Gill, Alex Maggs, Kevin Porter and Sam Hilpert-Smith.

Each fixture consisted of two doubles pairs playing two matches apiece, with four points up for grabs in each tie.




Redditch HDA A were consistent throughout the season, winning eight of their matches 4-0 including both home and away fixtures against Ardencote B who finished in second place with 31 points. Littletons A finished third on 30 points.

This team have worked their way up the divisions over the last four years with a good squad of players to choose from.


The club also have three other men’s teams in the lower divisions, as well as two ladies’ teams and one mixed team in both summer and winter seasons.

The Batchley-based club has lots to offer all ages and abilities, whether it is social or competitive tennis. The club has two brand new floodlit courts which will be ready to play on in August, giving the club six courts in total.
