Tamara triumphs as B&R runners keep it in the family

IT WAS a family affair for Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club runners on Sunday as married couples competed in different parts of the Midlands, including a women’s race victory for Tamara Freeman.

In the Gloucester 10k – an undulating and fast course – B&R were represented by husband and wife Andrew and Tamara Freeman and Charlotte Ball, Tamara’s mother.

The winner was Carwyn Jones of Cardiff, with Andrew 22nd in 37.20 (3rd over 40), Tamara 50th in 40.53 (1st lady) and Charlotte 232nd in 52.00 (3rd over 50) as 660 finished.

Andrew said of Tamara’s efforts: “This was a great run and return to form from injury after tripping on faulty paving on the streets of Redditch a few week earlier!”

Meanwhile, Rob and Holly Humphries took part in the Suicide Six held at Baggeridge Country Park, south Staffordshire. This six-mile race was all off-road, undulating, tough course with woods which included a waist-deep stream too wide to jump.

The race was won by Martin Williams of Tipton Harriers 36.15, with Rob 55th in 44.10 and Holly 474th in 67.57 as 603 runners completed the course.
