Stars of world cricket prepare to face Kingfishers

Redditch Editorial 23rd Jul, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A WHO’S who of world cricket will soon be coming to Redditch Entaco Cricket Club to take on the Kingfishers and the line-up for the famous Lashings team has now been revealed.

Lashings, known as the ‘Harlem Globetrotters of Cricket’, will field star names such as Hampshire opener Michael Carberry and former Warwickshire all-rounder Darren Maddy, both of whom have played for England.

Phil DeFreitas, Devon Malcolm, John Emburey, Chris Schofield and Mark Ealham are other former England players who will be representing the visitors at Bromsgrove Road on Friday, August 14.

Pakistan star Yasir Arafat, who has played for Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Lancashire and Somerset, as well as Perth Scorchers in Australia’s Big Bash, will also be playing, as will West Indians Kirk Edwards and Tino Best, who was once the fastest bowler in the world.

Indian Wasim Jaffer completes the star-studded line-up for what will be a magnificent occasion for Redditch Entaco, whose players face a team managed by David Smith and coached by Gordon Greenidge MBE.

Formed in 1984 by David Fold, the Lashings bring together a host of former and current cricketing superstars who tour and play at provincial clubs around the world and earlier this month were in the region to face Earlswood.
