DARK Lane AC’s first match of the new season on the River Arrow at Alcester on Saturday was won by Martin Spencer with 12lb 8oz.
Second was Tony Lockett (10lb 8oz) and third was Paul Caswell (9lb 6oz) and the section winners were Pete Lewis (9lb 5oz), Dave Curtis (8lb 10oz) and Spig Palowski (8lb 8oz).
On Sunday it was Needles AC’s match on the River Alne at Great Alne where Pete Lewis had an easy win with 18lb 12oz.
Second was Phil O’Donnell (6lb 6oz), third was Jeff Handscombe (5lb 9oz) and the section winners were Chris Cole (3lb 8oz), Barry Feldhahn (3lb 2oz) and Ali Morgan (3lb 1oz).
With the new river season just started, there were some good weights in the Throckmorton AC Thursday Evening League on the River Arrow at Coughton, where Mick Keen had a chub and barbel catch weighing 14lb to claim top spot.
Second was Pete Lewis (11lb 8oz), third was Tony Avery (10lb 11oz) and the section winners were Glyn Blewett (7lb 9oz) and Richard Hall (5lb 10oz).
