Simon Lanckham races into top ten spot

Simon Lanckham claimed a top-ten place as Bromsgrove and Redditch AC took part in the third round of  the Gloucestershire Cross Country League.

Lanckham finished eighth in the men’s event at Blackbridge, Gloucester, with the male athletes taking in three small and three large laps.

Hard on his heels was Richard Malin (11th), followed by young  Ian Keyte (46th) and Robert Humphris (75th), who was runing his first race and first cross country for the club.

Robert Humphris (75th), Phil Richardson (98th) Peter Hawcroft (107th),  Phil Anderson (111th) Alan Stanley (147th) completed the course.




Chairman Len Quartly, who is trying to get back to his old form after having a nasty bike accident, found it hard going and had to pull up on his last lap.

The masters team finished seventh out of 19, while Bromsgrove & Redditch women’s team was 13th out of 28.


The women’s race two small laps and two big laps of the course, with Melanie Hepke leading B&R AC home in 32th.

Rebecca Selvey (50th), Charlotte Ball (63th) putting her previous bad race behind her, were next home.

Jane Anderson (66th), Dagmer Prinzing (84th), and  Holly Smith (92th) all added to the points tally.

In Sunday’s Telford 10k on a fast, flat course on  park land featured two B&R AC runners, with Joe Smith just getting the better of James Bowler. Smith was 45th in 32mins 04 seconds, with Bowler 50th in 32.16.
