THERE was a healthy Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club representation at the National men’s 12-stage Relays and Women 6 stage which were again held at Sutton Park in Birmingham.

The best clubs from across England competed and seven B&R runners recorded personal best times.

Athletes completed either long or short legs and B&R results were as follows: Ladies – Ruth Gameson 41.14; Tamara Freeman 20.47; Mel Hepke 22.10; Charlotte Ball 42.28; Helen Russell 22.33; Debbie Simpson 24.33. The B&R ladies finished 38th out of 50 teams as Aldershot & Farnham District took top spot.

Men – Kelvin Fisher 31.48; Mark Appleton 17.51; Sean Bowden 31.17; Mike Hanson 18.34; Calvin Scoltock 32.08; Paul Atkins 20.03; Anthony Warner 35.14; Paul Collins 20.25; Ian Keyte 33.02; Stephen Brooks 20.21; Malcolm Duff 32.01; David Snape 22.15. The men finished in 60th place out of 67 teams as Highgate Harriers won the event.




Former B&R runner Joe Smith also recorded a personal best of 28.57 to help Tipton Harriers to 13th place.

B&R RUNNERS were out in force at the Wright Hassall Leamington Regency 10k on Sunday.


The race started on the wasteland at Newbold Comyn before a loop by the golf course, then headed up the High Street before a finish in the local park.

The B&R team was led home in 67th position by Robert Humphries and then came Curt Price (237th), Paul Edmonds (386th), David Snape (410th), Alison Pickup (539th), Holly Smith (792nd) and Elaine Pakes (967th) as a field of 2,001 finished the course.
