REDDITCH RFC remain in third place in the Midlands 5 West (South) after a dominant 22-0 bonus point win against Greyhound last weekend.
Tries from Stuart Brookes, Owen Binns, Jack Bacciocchi and Matt Allen secured a third win in four matches for Redditch this season.
That means they remain third in the Midlands 5 West (South) table just five points behind joint leaders Birmingham & Solihull and Cannock.
After being awarded an away walkover against Five Ways Old Edwardians – Redditch went into Saturday’s clash level on points with their opponents.
And the home side – playing in black and white hoops due to a kit clash with Greyhound – dominated the visitors at the scrum early on.
Their dominance eventually paid off when Brookes picked the ball up from a scrum close to the line and drove over to score the game’s first try.
In a scrappy contest, it was Redditch who capitalised on Greyhound’s mistakes as Binns grabbed another try when he cut back inside after an excellent move between the backs.
With neither try converted – Redditch went into the break with a 10-nil half-time lead as Greyhound struggled to threaten the home side’s defence in the opening 40 minutes.
The game continued in the same vein after the interval with Redditch’s pack pushing Greyhound back at the set-piece which allowed Jack Bacciocchi to charge through and score.
And after James Mills converted, Redditch scored their fourth try through their skipper Allen to complete a bonus point win.
Redditch are next in action away at Coventry-based side Keresley on Saturday, October 30.
