Refreshed Millers seeking home comforts

Redditch Editorial 26th Jan, 2017   0

FECKENHAM assistant manager Tom Davies is hoping the postponement of last weekend’s game will enable several Millers players to shake off niggling injuries in time to face Hampton at the Entaco on Saturday (2pm).

A frozen pitch put paid to Saturday’s scheduled visit of Smithswood Firs and Davies and Co will now hope for better luck with the weather this weekend.

“It was a shame we couldn’t get the game on against Smithswood Firs as we all felt we had something to go out and prove after our last performance against Coton Green.

“We had a good talk with the squad after the result and had a fantastic response off them at training on Tuesday evening. That said, we’ve got a couple with ‘niggly’ injuries and a week off with the non-stop season we’ve had may be a blessing in disguise.”

Meanwhile, the Millers management have continued with their policy of giving a chance to young potential to impress in Midland League Division Two.

Davies is also coach of Alvechurch U18s, whilst Feckenham manager Aaron Blackwood is joint youth team manager of Highgate United U18s.

Davies explained: “Although we’re happy with the squad that’s been assembled, we never stop in looking to recruit, especially when it comes to the quality youth players Aaron and I both work with.

“Adam Garmson has been in fantastic form for both sides and, having recently added Reece Edwards-Williams and Sid Hicks from Alvechurch, we are delighted to announce we are set to bring in Will Langston and Logan Madden, a defender and midfielder respectively, from Highgate United’s youth ranks.

“Aaron speaks highly of the pair and has had a very positive conversation with Ashley Pulisciano (Highgate United first team manager) who has agreed Feckenham is the right club for these boys to continue their development.”

This will take the number of youth team players used in the Feckenham first team this season to six, with goalkeeper Tristan Roberts having been involved with the squad earlier in the season.

REDDITCH Borough resume their Midland League Division Two campaign against Earlswood Town at the Trico Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

Seventh placed Borough were beaten 3-0 at Wednesfield in the Birmingham Saturday Vase quarter-finals on Saturday.
