Redditch league trio make Worcester cup progress

THERE was a mixture of league and Worcester cup action on Sunday when three Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination teams progressed into the next round.

In the league, Redditch United Cross bounced back to form with a 7-3 victory at South Redditch thanks to a hat-trick from Richard Lane and goals from Sam Reeves, Adam Thornton, Ben Rogers and Shiv Dheir.

Connor Poole, Adam Dale and Shane Kelleher netted for the home side.

Leaders Feckenham Sunday remain unbeaten after another emphatic victory – their latest being a 10-3 home win over Frankley United.




Connor Perry-Holmes bagged a hat-trick and George Tolley (2), Robbie Davies (2), Billy Holden, Jake Donnelly and Regan Salisbury were also on the mark for the hosts. Callum Bissett (2) and Ellis Reilly scored for United.

SSS Lions also continued their unbeaten start to the league season with a 6-0 win at Beoley Village which guided the visitors into second place.


Tom Keogh netted a hat-trick, Nick Briggs bagged a brace and Shaun Hunter also found the net.

In the WFA Sunday Premier Cup, VKL United, AFC Thomas Brothers and Headless Cross Lions progressed to the next round.

Redditch Town exited the competition as they were beaten 7-0 by Stourport Swifts, but four goals from Sam Osmond sealed a 4-0 victory for VKL United against AFC Windmill.

A hat-trick from Nath Davies and goals from George Thomas and Ben Round secured a 5-2 win for Thomas Brothers at Hawthorns Athletic, whilst Headless Cross Lions were 7-1 winners against Express Falcons as Mitch Sutor (2), Jordan Harrison, Joe Frampton, Corey Smith, Peter Treadgold and Jordan Street struck.
