CRICKET: REDDITCH Entaco remain top of Worcestershire League Division Two, despite being frustrated by rain.

The Kingfishers had been dismissed for 157 last Saturday but visitors Chaddesley Corbett did not get the chance to start their reply before rain forced an abandonment.

The result, however, left Greg Chinn’s side 24 points clear of Wormelow.

Russell Southwick led the Redditch batting after Chaddesley won the toss and decided to field.

Openers Jack Roberson and Rizwan Mohammad Choudry were both back in the pavilion for 32 before Southwick and Cody Poole (19) added 50 for the best partnership of the innings.

Southwick led the Kingfishers’ assault, hitting five fours and one six in his 107-ball 65. but wickets continued to tumble.

After Southwick was the sixth wicket to fall on 142, the final four wickets were scuttled for just 15 as Redditch were all out for 157 in the 45th over.

Muhammad Saddiq led the bowling figure for Chaddesley with 4-33, with Bilal Hassan (4-51) also claiming four wickets.

Redditch take ten point to Aston’s nine.

Redditch travel to Coombs Wood on Saturday.
