CRICKET: REDDITCH Cricket Club skipper Perry Derrick is looking for an instant response from his players after the Kingfishers suffered a heavy defeat at home to high flying Pershore on Saturday.

Winning the toss the Kingfishers elected to bowl but Pershore openers Liam Ridings and Chris Ayliffe put the visitors in the driving seat with an opening partnership of 83.Sam Egan having Ayliffe[41] caught by keeper Weaver, Egan struck again soon after skipper Ridings chipped one to midwicket and Mostert taking a simple catch. Opener Liam Ridings continued to flourish and received strong support from Boschcoff [15]and Andrew Robertson[46] and completed a fine century to finish on 104 not out as Pershore finished on 232/3 off 50 overs.

Redditch’s reply never got going and only Stefan Jagielski [18] offered any resistance as the home side crumbled to just 88 all out.Luke Dally the pick of the Pershore bowling attack taking 5/31 off 10 overs.

Tomorrow Redditch Entaco travel to Worcester and the match reverts back to the win lose or draw format.




Better news for Geoff Eley’s troops as they recorded an excellent victory away at Rushwick. Batting first Redditch put on 135 for the first wicket as openers Roberson[83] and Altaf [53], skipper Eley chipped in with 34 as Redditch set an imposing 233/8 off their 50 overs.

In reply the home side struggled as seamers Eley 4/16 and Bruce Joseph 2/14 did the damage and were skittled for just 107, with Ben Hicklin cleaning up at the end to finish with 2/8.


Tomorrow Stourport are the visitors to Bromsgrove Rd.

Wednesday’s big local T-20 derby against Astwood Bank fell victim to the weather and next Thursday Bromsgrove are the visitors, both clubs hoping for better weather to kick start their campaigns.
