WEBHEATH angler Ray Ravenall made an extraordinary catch in the five-hour Carrs AS club match on Sunday.

Ravenall, who is the chairman of the Worcester and District United Anglers’ Association (WDUAA), had a haul of 198lb 6oz consisting of 49 bream and two small roach.

It is believed to be a Warwickshire Avon record and was witnessed by a number of the attending club anglers.

This is a fitting achievement for an angler who does a large amount of work for the local angling community.

The catch came from the WDUAA’s Pensham stretch of the river and the fish were caught on groundbait feeder with worm and maggot on the hookbait.

THROCKMORTON AC’s match on the River Arrow at Coughton on Sunday was won by Paul Murray with 18lb 6oz.

Second was John Sumner with 17lb 12oz, third was Mick Rippington with 9lb 4oz and the section winners were Steve Hemming (7lb 8oz) and Rory Burke (5lb 10oz).
