NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens have encountered a tough 2017 season, as have the majority of Midlands Division One teams, with sides pulling out of the league throughout the campaign as well as before the season even began.
However, Ravens have ploughed on with one objective in mind, to fulfil the fixtures no matter what.
This was the case again on Saturday when they entertained Derby with the bare minimum players. Despite some fine play with ball in hand, Ravens’ numerical disadvantage was always evident and they were beaten 106-6.
Ravens’ director of rugby Jason Spafford said: “All the Ravens played hard and put their bodies on the line like they always do, but came away happy as they enjoyed a hard battle with the sun shining down on them.
“We have more fixtures left and hope to have some lads back from long-term injuries to get the numbers up, but regardless we will battle on.
“It’s been a hard season and every now and then one of these comes around but, with a great group of lads involved, we see it through and look forward to the next season.
“It drives everyone to work on getting new players and promoting the sport in the off-season, which is what it is all about.”
Ravens are due to face Boston on Saturday at a venue to be confirmed.
