Ravens aiming for a perfect tenth anniversary

Redditch Editorial 4th Feb, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens Rugby League Club is enjoying its tenth anniversary this coming season and a whole host of activities are planned to celebrate the milestone.

NEW Ravens started life back in 2005 as Redditch Ravens RL and played out of Studley Football Club, before the club decided to change its name in 2010 to better reflect the area it wanted to represent.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary the club is producing a commemorative playing shirt which incorporates the past and present badges and colours of the club.

Ravens are starting the season and celebrations with a launch night at their Hopwood Park home on Friday, February 13 from 7.30pm, followed by a Masters Game at the same venue on Sunday, March 8 aimed at players new or retired aged 35 and over from all sporting backgrounds.

They are then hoping to hold a Mini Masters Festival and a Junior Festival in May or June.

N.E.W Ravens have spent a lot of time this year on development of players’ fitness and ability and this can be seen by the joint set-up of O2 Touch with Kings Norton RFC.

O2 Touch is currently played at Bournville College every Wednesday at 7.30pm and will be moving over to Hopwood Park after Easter for outside play.

NEW Ravens RL are hosting their Challenge Cup Tournament on Sunday, March 29, with a 1.30pm kick-off at Hopwood Park and this round-robin competition for full teams is aimed at developing current players and introducing rugby league to new ones.

The club is looking forward to an action-packed season of games, festivals and even a charity fun day to raise money for its chosen charity – The Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation – which raises money for defibrillators.

Whether you want to play, watch or help out behind the scenes, NEW Ravens look forward to seeing you and celebrating a special year with you.

Ravens would also like to take this opportunity to thank sponsors Focal Image.co.uk of Bromsgrove, which provides the club with all of its off-field gear, and the NASUWT (National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers), which was also the club’s first ever sponsor.
