Not just a box-ticking exercise - local sports and wellness hub rewards self-care with free fitness passes

AS THE nights grow darker and colder, a local world-class sports and fitness facility is encouraging folk in Coventry and Warwickshire to look after their well-being.

The Sports and Wellness Hub, on the University of Warwick campus, launched its ‘Mind, Body and Goal’ Checklist to reward those who put their mental and physical health first this month.

The checklist is designed to provide locals with achievable targets this month, whether that be doing ten squats, drinking at least six glasses of water or simply taking a moment to breathe.

To help people meet their goals, the Sports and Wellness Hub will also be offering two free virtual yoga classes by its instructors this month, available from its Facebook page on the last week of October.

The Sports and Wellness Hub will also reward those who complete all activities and tick all the boxes with a free day pass to access its large state-of-the-art gym, pool with woodland views and fitness classes in a bid to encourage them to keep the momentum going.

Those who complete the ‘Mind, Body and Goal’ Checklist will get free access to world-class facilities, including a gym and swimming pool.

Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport & Active Communities at the Sports and Wellness Hub, said: “This has been a challenging six months and, as the clocks are set to go back and the nights draw in, this time of year especially can be difficult from a mental health perspective.

“We can all practice self-care at home and invest in ourselves – it all starts with a small step in the right direction, whether that be stretching for five minutes longer in the morning or simply taking a moment to breathe properly.

“Here at the Sports and Wellness Hub, we’d like to encourage those who have set some time aside to look after themselves this month to keep this momentum going and to claim a free day pass, on us.

“Everything has to start somewhere – why not start here? We’re looking forward to welcoming people of all age and abilities to our world-class facilities and give them the opportunity to try something different this October.”

To allow visitors to exercise safely and confidently, the Sports and Wellness Hub has implemented a number of strict measures including thorough new cleaning protocols and continuous scheduled sanitation of surfaces and equipment, while adding a number of hand and equipment sanitising stations throughout and making the making of its large, spacious design to create additional fitness spaces and maximise social distancing.

Any customer wishing to use the facilities must book in advance and wear a mask when walking through the building.
