ALCESTER have been back in pre-season training since early July under the guidance of a new head coach.

David Miles has agreed to lead the Midlands Three West (South) side and replaces Chris Johnston in the role.

Miles has extensive playing and coaching experience in the local area and further afield and his most recent role was as assistant coach at Rugby Lions.

Meanwhile, Alcester are preparing for their pre-season friendlies which begin against Harbury on August 24, followed by Claverdon on August 31.

The first and second team then play in the Warwickshire Cup competition – both against Bedworth – on September 7.

League action commences on September 14 at home to Woodrush and the match will mark the official launch of Alcester’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The club are hoping to invite all former players, coaches and members to come down on the day as part of their 60th anniversary celebrations.

Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday between 7-8.30pm and new players are especially welcome.
