National stage beckons for gymnasts

THERE was plenty of success for Wythall Gymnastics Club youngsters who competed in the British Schools Gymnastics Association Milano Team regional final for a place at the Nationals Finals in March.

The venue for the schools’ regional final was Stoke’s Fenton Manor Sports Complex where many children from the West Midlands were in action bidding to book their spots for the nationals at the same venue.

The competition consists of an individual vault and individual floor routine and those scores are combined with the score for the trio performance. The trios are judged on their skill, difficulty, performance and synchronicity.

Securing a place in the national final are gold and silver medallists.

Wythall GC head coach Kirsty Garratt said: “All children did fabulously and deserved the results they achieved. Bring on the Nationals!”

Wythall GC results: Under 11 girls: Gold – Wheelers Lane, Kings Heath (Anna Seagrave-Blanks, Aisiah Armett, Eliza Ricketts and Jessica Pateman); Silver – Meadow Green Primary School, Wythall (Millie Waterhouse, Megan Hood and Ayla Goucher).

Under 11 mixed: Gold – The Coppice Primary School, Wythall (Isabella Warr, Dylan Storm-Sargent and Olivia Witham); Silver – Meadow Green Primary school (Rose Waterhouse, Ava Hampton and Tobias Bishop).

Under 13 mixed: Gold – Studley High School (Ella Rose Garratt, Phoebe Hunt and James Kirk); Silver – Arden Secondary School.

Under 13 girls: Gold – Edgbaston High School; Silver – Woodrush High School (Eve Freeman, Yasmin Daymond and Sophie Fellows).
