Millers set for key test in the hunt for promotion

FECKENHAM moved five points clear of Worcestershire League Division Two promotion rivals Chaddesley Corbett despite only managing a losing draw at home to Evesham on Saturday.

The Millers and Chaddesley are almost certainly battling for runners-up spot behind champions in waiting Redditch Entaco and a crucial penultimate round of fixtures awaits this Saturday, with the possibility of bad weather intervening.

Feckenham travel to Lye whilst Chaddesley head to Evesham.

On Saturday, Evesham won the toss at Feckenham and chose to bat in a match reduced to 30 overs per side initially and then 25 for the hosts’ reply following a delayed restart after tea.

Captain Muhammad Saqib was the star of the Evesham innings with 68 featuring eight fours and three sixes as the visitors posted a challenging 178-9 off their 30 overs despite an economical 3-38 off ten overs from Tom Coulson.

There were also three wickets apiece for Matt Henning and Neil Evans.

The Feckenham top order got starts but only Muhammad Idrees (36) really looked fluent in an innings containing six fours before becoming victim to Mohammed Fahim Maan (5-26 off eight).

The hosts’ innings closed on 132-7 off their 25 overs and they took ten points for their efforts, five more than Chaddesley whose home match against Bromyard was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
