Millers raring to return to action against leaders

FECKENHAM suffered further frustration with the weather on Saturday as the scheduled Presidents (League) Cup semi-final against Hampton was postponed due to a waterlogged Entaco pitch.

The Millers, who are yet to agree a date for the rearranged fixture, have not played since the 4-1 win at Pelsall Villa on December 23 and will return to action at home to Midland League Division Two leaders NKF Burbage on Saturday (2pm).

An inspired run of form has lifted Aaron Blackwood’s side into fourth place in the table and within four points of second placed Montpellier, but a stern test awaits against the Leicestershire table-toppers who have lost just once in 14 league games this season.

However, that defeat did come at the hands of Feckenham who secured a memorable 4-3 away win in August to end their opponents’ 28-match unbeaten league run stretching back to last season, before Burbage gained revenge with a 4-0 success in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup at the Entaco the following month.

Five Feckenham first team players did get some football under their belts on Saturday when they played for the Reserves in their 2-2 draw at title hopefuls FC Wickhamford in Stratford Alliance Division One.

Goalkeeper Lewis Loveridge, defender Ryan Faulkner, midfielders Matt Green and Jordan Hartley and star man Jack Brimmell were all in action for the visitors, for whom Faulkner and Dan Sill netted.
