ASTWOOD BANK’S Kerry Alligan-Smith has been appointed general manager of Redditch Golf Club.

She has taken over at the Lower Grinsty Lane club from Sue McDevitt, who has moved to Cornwall to become general manager of Perranporth Golf Club after four years at the popular Redditch club.

Redditch GC chairman Peter Johnson said Kerry’s sales and business development background was just what the club was seeking when Sue decided to move to Cornwall.

Kerry has most recently worked as portfolio commercial partnerships manager for Lend Lease, the international project management and construction company, including managing The International Quarter next to Olympic Park in London.

Kerry, who became a World Irish Dance Association British champion in October, was previously involved in the management and development of Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull.

Peter said: “Kerry has just the right skill set to take the club forward and build on the good work done by Sue.

“Golf clubs are now about so much more than just the golf course and clubs that are thriving have taken this on board. We thank Sue for all her hard work for Redditch Golf Club and are delighted to welcome such a strong successor as Kerry.”

Kerry, who will be competing in April’s Irish Dancing World Championships in Maastricht, Netherlands, added: “I am delighted to have joined Redditch Golf Club and look forward to meeting all the members, our corporate clients and those who use the club purely socially.

“Redditch Golf Club is renowned for its playing facilities and I now plan to build on the club’s growing reputation as a place to play and to do business.”
