THE EASTER Monday Open at Alvechurch Fisheries was convincingly won by assistant manager Phil Evans on the Horseshoe Lake.
Electing to fish pole and maggot off peg 23 across two lines up to the aerator and along the bank side, he netted a few carp up to 6lb and added a net of barbel to boost his weight to 48.6.
Sammy Round was his nearest challenger off peg 28 as he fished pole and maggot at 10m across a number of lines for an all-carp net of 34.5.
Nick Dukes on peg 13 fished pole and maggot up to the flower box and along the edge for his all-carp net of 30.5 to finish third.
Fourth was Trevor Hodges on peg 34 who opted for bomb and maggot tactics up to the island for a few carp and stockies to weigh 29.2 and fifth was Richard Massey on peg three who fished similar tactics for 17.4.
Ron Taylor on peg 36 opted for pole and maggot at 10m for a mixed net of 17.2 which completed the top six.
ROB GANDLEY (Sensas) secured his second Saturday Open victory on the Horseshoe as a combination of waggler and maggot up to the island and pole at 13m saw the in-form man net a few carp up to 8lb and boost his weight with a 25 net of barbel to 60.2.
In second place was John Newton on peg five who alternated a number of lines with long pole and maggot tactics for his all-carp net of 51.3.
Third was Taylor on peg seven who opted for bomb and maggot tactics fished up to the island for his bag of all-carp weighing 25.15 and fourth was Hodges on peg 32 who fished similar tactics for 23.4.
Rob Avery on peg 30 rotated long pole and maggot to weigh 20.10 to come fifth and sixth was Chris Newton on peg three who fished similar tactics for 18.1.
