It’s a struggle for anglers

THE LAKE was once again in poor form as low catches and even dry nets featured in the Redditch Federation of Anglers Cadence Fishing Tackle Spring League third round contest.

Top of Saturday’s 20-strong field on Arrow Valley Lake was Des Nosworthy (Bidford AC) who winkled out a double-figure carp and five decent bream from unfancied peg 22 for a 19lb 3oz catch.

John Snelson (Worcester) took second spot with a catch of seven bream on peg 46 for 17lb 1oz, ahead of Mark Dowery (Birmingham) with 14lb 12oz.

In this event it is section points over the four-match series which will decide the main prizes and the round section winners and runners-up on the day were as follows: Section A – John Snelson and James Lawler (KHA, 11lb 12oz); Section B – Steve Maher (Sensas, 11lb 8oz) and John Godwin (Rubicon Leisure, 7lb 13oz); Section C – Des Nosworthy and Mark Dowery; Section D – Alf Hand (Kempsey, 8lb 7oz) and Mark Malin (Map, 2lb 6oz).

James Lawler still leads with a four-point score, just ahead of Peter Millard (Lodge Park) on five and chased by three other anglers on six, so it really is set up for a tight finish in the last match in early June.
