Impressive win for Hart's Friday veterans

WHITE Hart’s A team all performed well to achieve a 124-76 home win over Ye Olde Knowle A in Heart of England Friday Over 60s League Division One.

Ian Humphreys (21-9), Norman Batchelor (21-11) and Ray Richards (21-16) gave the Redditch club a 27-shot lead at the halfway stage and, although Graham Arnott was narrowly beaten 21-19, wins for Kirk Wright (21-12) and captain Mike Estell (21-7) secured them a well-earned victory and lifted them one place to seventh after taking 15 points from the tie.

White Hart B were comfortably defeated 124-83 at Yardley Wood Social, with Mick Perrins (21-19) their only winner.

In the SW Birmingham and District Over 60s Tuesday League, White Hart B visited Co-Op in Division Four and came away with victory and nine points after an exciting finish.

At the mid-point stage they were 21 shots ahead following winning cards from Tom Hawkes (21-10) and Gill Croft (21-7) but the home side closed the gap with two comfortable winning ties and it took a 21-16 victory from Hart’s Mick Perrins to finally give them a 101-96 away win and third place in the table – one point behind the leaders.

White Hart held their annual Earl Summer Handicap Tournament on Saturday which produced 20 entries and some close-fought ties.

At the semi-final stage Ian Humphreys gained a narrow 11-9 win over Trina Higgins and Phil Hemming fought back from an early deficit against Tony Buckley to beat him 11-7.

Humphreys took control of the final from the beginning – keeping to two marks across the crown and not allowing Hemming a sniff of the jack. Humphreys prevailed 11-4 in front of a good turnout of supporters.
