REDDITCH Hockey Club will be joining over 110 clubs across the country in taking part in the national Back To Hockey campaign this autumn.

RHC are running sessions for men and women every Wednesday between 7-8pm until mid-October and they cater for people who may not have played hockey for a long period of time or who are looking to try the sport for the first time.

PRE-SEASON action took place at the weekend and Redditch men’s first team enjoyed a 2-1 home win over Pershore. The hosts were dominant and should have won by a greater margin than they did. Their scorers were Callum Pace and Steve Cook.

Redditch men’s 3rds were involved in the proverbial game of two halves against a strong Worcester side.

Hosts Redditch found themselves 4-0 down shortly into the second half but they staged a stirring fightback through goals from Barry Fitzpatrick, George Haslam and Connor Adams.

Will Moss put in a man of the match display but the Kingfishers could not find an equaliser.

Redditch Ladies enjoyed a 3-2 home victory over local rivals Bromsgrove Ladies in their opening Worcestershire League Division One game.

The hosts took the lead when Anna Stafford released Jo Williams to score but the visitors levelled before half time.

Bromsgrove then took a second half lead but Anna Stafford made the most of a superb short corner to make it 2-2 and with five minutes remaining Lindsay Morris’ superb ball set up Anna Stafford to score the winning goal.

The return derby is immediate as Redditch travel to Bromsgrove on Saturday searching for a second victory of the campaign against their neighbours.

Redditch Ladies 2nds are the early pace-setters in Worcestershire League Division Three following a 6-1 home win over Droitwich 2nds.

Two goals from Ellie Preece gave the hosts a 2-1 half time lead before the second half turned into the Demi Drysdale show as she scored four goals thanks to assistance from midfielders Fran Evans, Nathalie Frisch and Lucie Mottet.

Debutant Preece was named player of the match for Redditch, who visit Kings Heath Pickwick 2nds on Saturday.

Redditch Badgers defeated Bromsgrove Badgers 3-2 at Trinity High School thanks to two goals from centre forward Jake Porter and another from captain Jack Drysdale.
