Healthy turnout for Reliability Trial

Redditch Editorial 14th Mar, 2017   0

REDDITCH Road & Path Cycling Club’s Reliability Trial – the traditional pre-season test of rider and bike – attracted nearly 100 riders to the HDA club in Batchley in anticipation of a good morning’s ride.

The riders who took part travelled from all over the region, including one group who rode the 30 miles from Malvern to Redditch as a warm-up.

Three rides set off at 9am, with the furthest route heading into the beautiful Cotswolds. Club volunteers greeted the riders with hot drinks and biscuits (and George Michael songs) in the village of Winchcombe before heading back – a total distance of 64 miles.

The mid-distance ride covered 44 miles and turned in the Cotswold village of Willersey, while the shorter 22-mile route took riders to Broom, near Alcester.

The weather remained dry and mild, although a strong southerly wind provided an added challenge to the riders during the first half of the route.

Everyone returned to Redditch safely and enjoyed a well earned slice of homemade cake.
