WHITE Hart gained eight valuable points from a narrow 207-194 home win over Rubery SJC in Division Four of the Warws/Worcs League.

The Redditch club had six winning cards from Ray Richards 21-17, Trina Higgins 21-5, Katy Lang 21-10, Mike Estell 21-9, Mike Hancock 21-11 and Martyn Higgins 21-16.

Hart are now ten points clear of the relegation places but need to gain as many points as possible from their next two matches against bottom team Yardley Wood Social to keep out of the danger zone.

In the Sunday Northfield & District League Division Two, White Hart A kept their promotion prospects alive with a fine 144-114 home win over Woodbourne Sports A.

At halfway the teams were level at 64 shots each – Martyn Higgins (21-14) and Ian Humphreys (21-8) giving the hosts two points on the board – then Hart had three second half winning cards from Paul Matthews (21-13), Katy Lang (21-2) and Mike Estell (21-14) to give them seven points and the team are now just four points behind second-placed Weoley Castle WMC.

White Hart B suffered a heavy 159-108 defeat at Baldwin B in Division Three and had just two winners – Mike Hancock 21-16 and Trina Higgins 21-17.

In Yardley Wood Super League Division Two, White Hart A visited Wootton Hall and had three winning cards from Mike Hancock 21-15, Denis Turner 21-18 and captain Kirk Wright 21-20, but it was not enough to prevent a 158-123 defeat.

In the Heart of England League Over 60s League Division One, White Hart A were convincing 126-80 winners over Wythall A and had a full house of winning cards – Ray Richards 21-5, Norman Batchelor 21-14, Kirk Wright 21-18, Mike Estell 21-15, Ian Humphreys 21-18 and Graham Arnott 21-10.

They currently occupy fifth position, well clear of any relegation worries but way behind leaders Moseley A.

White Hart B suffered the club’s second heavy defeat of the week at Baldwin who crushed the visitors 126-69 in Division Two with all six winning cards.

In SW Birmingham & District League Division One, White Hart A jumped up to fourth place after a nail-biting 109-106 home win over Colebrook A.

The Redditch team had an eight-shot lead at halfway after having two winning cards from Ray Richards 21-19 and captain Mike Estell 21-12, but a single figure card put the visitors right back in the game before Graham Arnott won his tie 21-13 and Ian Humphreys gave Hart a total of eight points with a thrilling 21-20 win.

White Hart B travelled to Ye Olde Knowle C in Division Four and Tom Hawkes was their sole first half winner with a 21-11 scoreline. Norman Batchelor doubled Hart’s total in the second period with a 21-16 card, but that was their only other success in a 111-89.

Hart drop to third place in the table, swapping places with the hosts who are just one point ahead of them.
