REDDITCH United Ladies celebrated their 2017/18 double in fine style at the team’s annual awards evening at Redditch Cricket, Hockey & Rugby Club.

There was plenty to savour as the Reds Ladies marked a season in which they went one place better than the previous campaign by winning the West Midlands Women’s League Division One South title on the back of also triumphing in the divisional cup.

Kerstin Ballard was Young Player of the Season, Sian Cousins picked up the Supporters’ Player of the Season accolade and Maisie Farr was Players’ Player of the Season.

Reds Ladies boss Gary Barrell said: “We are thankful to have such a committed group of players, staff and supporters who all combine to make this a special group of people who will continue to progress as a group on and off the pitch for the 2018/19 season and beyond.

“Congratulations to all of the award winners, the nominees and every single player who has competed at training and in matches for Redditch United Ladies FC this season.

“You have all played a role in the team’s success. As a group we now have a well earned break before starting back up on Sunday, July 1 for pre-season.”

Champions Redditch, who clinched the title thanks to a 2-0 win at rivals Coventry Sphinx to leapfrog their hosts on the final day, have also announced their 2018/19 pre-season schedule which includes fixtures against Solihull Sporting, Northampton Town, Wolves, Goldenhill Wanderers and Abingdon United.

“The highlight of our pre-season campaign will naturally be our third international tour when as a group we will visit Barcelona in late July after previously touring Dublin and Paris,” added Barrell.

“Whilst on tour we will take advantage of some warm weather training and play international opposition, whilst being inspired by the Nou Camp, the culture of Las Ramblas, the thrills of PortAventura World, the beaches of Salou and of course team bonding.”
