Great Britain duty beckons for Dave

SENSEI Dave Treadwell from Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate (FSK) held a training session on Sunday in Redditch for members of his dojos.

Sensei Treadwell had previously been selected to take part in the World Games to be held in London in October by the National Martial Arts Committee of Great Britain.

As part of the session, National Director Christopher Hemstock attended and cast a watchful eye over Sensei Treadwell and his group of students to see how they train.

After the session, Sensei Treadwell was delighted to be asked not to only take part in the games as a competitor but also as Great Britain coach – helping other athletes in their preparation for the event and host training sessions between now and the games.

Hemstock said it was clear to see the passion Sensei Treadwell has in his training and teaching and his students have a great mentor.

“Watching Sensei Treadwell train gave me goosebumps and it’s clear to see the ability he has. We are really glad to have him on board and look forward to him passing his knowledge on to others,” said Hemstock.

October’s event will feature countries from all over the world including Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Spain, Germany, Poland, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, India and Nepal.

Sensei Treadwell teaches at Tudor Grange Academy Redditch every Tuesday between 6-7.30pm and at Woodrush Hub in Wythall every Saturday between 9.30-11am. For more details call Treadwell on 07341 569060.
