Former stars return to strengthen Borough for 2021/22

PREPARATIONS at Redditch Borough are hotting up with a number of new arrivals across the board, as the club begins amping up for the lengthy pre-season period.

The Midland League Division Two side have made two additions to their first-team squad, reinforcing their attack with the additions of Callum Hall and Billy Garvey.

Both players are familiar with the Borough faithful having turned out for the club during successful previous spells, with the duo making the return to the Mettis Sports & Social Club following spells at other Midland League sides.

Hall, something of a breakthrough star during his first stint with Redditch, departed for Premier Division outfit Boldmere St Michaels back in August 2019, on the back of four years, 122 appearances and 14 goals for Borough.

Garvey, meanwhile, last plied his trade at division rivals Feckenham in a two-year spell, and will hope to give a repeat performance of the form which saw him fire 25 goals to become the club’s top scorer in the 2018/19 campaign.

The club have also bolstered their coaching staff, bringing in UEFA B licence coach Callum McGregor to work with Borough’s men’s and women’s first teams, aside from his work with Birmingham City.

Mike Pitt has also arrived and brings with him a wealth of experience, previously working on the backroom staff at a number of clubs included Premier Division club Highgate United, and managing Alvechurch, Malvern Town and Tipton Town.

Upon signing, the UEFA B licence coach said: “The opportunity to join Redditch Borough is something I could not pass on, they are a forward-thinking club and I am excited to be a part of it.”
