FOOTBALL - Studley FC fail to move top after being hammered by Malmesbury Victoria

STUDLEY FC suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to Malmesbury Victoria as the Bees failed to move top of the table.

The Redditch club briefly drew level through Sam Jackson only for Vics striker Chris Zebroski to score four goals for the visitors.

And the result means Studley remain second in the Hellenic League Division One table, one point behind leaders Clanfield 85 with three games in hand.

The visitors felt they should have had a penalty in the opening minute before Studley’s Robbie Bunn was denied by Vics goalkeeper Adam Clatworthy.

However, Malmesbury took the lead on 29 minutes when former Football League forward Zebroski finished off a fine team move.

Studley levelled against the run of play on 42 minutes when Jackson finished well after Odane Barnes robbed a Vics defender before teeing up Jackson for the equaliser.

The home side dominated possession after the break only for Zebroski to put Malmesbury back in front on 53 minutes after he was played through to score.

And, after Brain had hit the post for the Bees, Zebroski completed his hat-trick on 66 minutes before adding his fourth of the afternoon on 70 minutes to compound Studley’s misery.

Studley are next in action at home to FC Stratford on Tuesday, February 22 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Beehive.
