STUDLEY FC were beaten in the third round of the Bluefin Sports Cup after losing 4-3 on penalties against Premier side Tuffley Rovers.

The Bees, who play in Division One of the Hellenic League, took their Premier opponents all the way at Glevum Park only to fall short in the shootout.

The game was Studley’s sixth consecutive fixture on the road as both teams struggled for fluency in a first half that lacked quality.

Studley almost took the lead early in the second period when Mark Magee poked his effort wide as the Bees dominated possession with chances at a premium.

The Bees were then reduced to 10-men when Jake Bloomer picked up his second yellow card in the space of 10 minutes despite appearing to try an avoid a Tuffley player.

With the game scoreless at the end of 90 minutes, Tuffley triumphed 4-3 on penalties after six spot kicks apiece.

Studley will be presented with the Hellenic League Division One trophy ahead of their final game of the season at home to Cheltenham Saracens with kick-off at 11am at The Beehive.
