KINGFISHER under-14 Girls’ lifted the Mercian Junior Shield after they secured a convincing 4-0 win against Redditch United.

Hollie Deavs and Keeley Wright both struck twice for Kingfisher as they showed their class at Pershore Town’s Community Stadium.

Some outstanding Kingfisher defending kept Redditch at bay in the opening exchanges before Amber Martin dusted herself down to fire a free-kick at goal which was mishandled into the path of Deavs who blasted home.

And Kingfisher doubled their lead in the second half when Wright tapped home from close range from Millie Papper’s whipped right-wing cross.

Kingfisher captain Deavs trebled her side’s lead when she flicked the ball into the top corner from Martin’s inch-perfect delivery.

And Wright completed the scoring when she slotted home into the bottom corner after some superb defending and sweeping from the Kingfisher keeper ensured their clean sheet remained in tact.

The club are currently top of their league having won all 12 of their matches this season and have a County Cup final to look forward to in May.

Kingfisher are unbeaten in 30 games, all of which are wins, across all competitions dating back to September 2020.
