MICHAEL VAN GERWEN may be king of the darting world, but the challenge is now on to find the top player in Redditch.
The Redditch Darts Tournament – which will be held on Saturday, February 4 at South Redditch Sports & Social Club – is the first tournament of its type in the town and has already attracted players from as far afield as Oxford and Morecambe.
Organiser Matt Friel said: “There are plenty of great darts players in the local area and it is a great opportunity for them to play in an open tournament against some real top players.
“With seven boards, all with raised oches and electronic scoreboards, the Redditch Darts Tournament will bring the fun and excitement of the ‘Ally Pally’ to Redditch.
“There is a guaranteed £200 to the winner and cash prizes to the runner-up and the highest checkout if we get enough entrance.”
