Eagles roar on the Lionesses

Redditch Editorial 19th Nov, 2019   0

SCORES of Inkberrow Eagles players took flight to Wembley to watch England’s Lionesses face Germany in front of a record-breaking crowd of 77,768.

There has always been a strong sense of team spirit among the Eagles and this was again evident as two coach loads of players headed to the capital to be part of the highest attendance for an England Women home international.

Ellen White’s 44th-minute goal had brought the hosts level but Klara Buhl’s 90th-minute goal secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory for the Germans.

The next planned trip for the squad is the Women’s FA Cup final in May next year.

Girls’ team manager Mark Wilkinson said: “It’s important the girls who play for Inkberrow are given the opportunity to see the female game at the top level and shown anything is possible through hard work and determination.”

Inkberrow FC is a Charter Standard Community Club and is looking to expand its girls section on top of its current roster of Wildcats through to under 18s. Contact Mark on 07795 259723 for details.
