Dedicated duo handed junior captains roles

KATIE ROLPH and DAN HOLMES have been given the honour of inspiring the young guns at Redditch Swimming Club after being appointed girls’ and boys’ junior captains.

The captaincy roles have just been introduced and mean the duo will lead the club’s teams in league competitions and other galas for junior swimmers (aged 12 and under).

Redditch Swimming Club head coach Chris Britt said: “In a club of over 200 swimmers, many under the age of ten, we saw there was a need to select junior captains.

“Their role will be to help encourage the younger swimmers, support the team and to collect any trophies that we might win along the way!

“Training to be a competitive swimmer is hard work and representing the club in galas can be very daunting for someone who is only eight or nine years old, so it’s nice for the younger swimmers to have junior captains they can go to for guidance and support.

“Both Katie and Dan have, both literally and figuratively ‘got the T-shirt’. They train hard and commit to representing the club in competitions and are great examples for the younger swimmers to aspire to.”
