YOUNG students of Wythall’s Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate academy impressed as they won numerous medals at the Peterborough Championships on Sunday.
Laura Smith, Poppy Young and Jacob Chance were all competing in their first competition in both individual and team kata and each picked up two medals.
Cameron Degville and Sydney Quarterman both placed well in their respective categories to add more medals to the club’s collection.
Coach Steve Degville said he was immensely proud of the students’ achievements.
Furi Sutairu, spearheaded by sensei Dave Treadwell, holds classes at its Woodrush hub in Wythall every Saturday between 9.30-11am and at Mappleborough Green Primary School on Tuesdays between 6-7.30pm. For more details visit the club’s Facebook page.
