CYCLING - Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club secure seven medals at West Midlands Cyclo-Cross Championships

REDDITCH Road and Path Cycling Club secured seven podium finishes including two wins at the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross Championships.

James Keene and Felicity Keene won the under six boys and girls categories respectively with former Redditch rider Sulli Berry claiming victory in the under 18 boys event.

And Fergus Irons followed James home in the under six boys race to complete a one-two for the Redditch club.

The success did not stop there as Ivy Ross crossed the line second in the under six girls race which ensured another one-two finish for RRPCC.

And Joe Homer finished third – behind eventual winner and former Redditch slipstreamer Sulli – in the junior under 18 boys race to win the club’s eighth medal of the day.

Sulli became the Junior Champion for his Rotor Race Team and shared the podium with a bloodied Joe who recovered well from an early fall to come home in third.

Prior to that – Emmie Styler took second in the under 10 girls race whilst Beany Oldfield was runner-up in the under 14 girls category.

The action took place at Top Barn in Worcester with riders competing in categories ranging from under six to veterans.

And RRPCC’s Hubert Irons, aged three, battled well to complete a lap on a long and challenging course in the under six category.

There were other strong performances in the junior ranks from Reuben Fowler, Henry Keene, Sam Styler, Ambrose Mapp, Ryan Oldfield, Ronan Finlinson and Dylan Phipps.
