THE ST BEDE’S Middle School squad netted glory in the county Catholic Schools’ Football Tournament.
The nine-strong squad played against various local Catholic schools at Winterfold House School in Kidderminster and St Bede’s qualified top of their group to reach the semi-finals.
The last four tie was a very tight game which went to extra-time and had to be settled by a golden goal.
In the final, St Bede’s played hosts Winterfold and another extremely close game ensued in which there were very few opportunities for either side.
Once again the match went to extra-time and then penalties and it was St Bede’s who emerged victorious as they scored all of their penalties, with goalkeeper Liam also managing to save two penalties from Winterfold.
The St Bede’s squad, which conceded no goals across the seven matches played, featured George, Zach, Liam, Billy, Aiden, Kian, Elijah, Jude and Oliwier.
