PROMISING Redditch gymnast Claudia Finocchiaro was part of a group of gifted youngsters who won two silver medals and one gold for City of Coventry Rhythmic Gymnastics Club at the IFDPA International Dance and Gymnastics competition at Disneyland Paris.
Claudia, a year five pupil at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Studley, travelled with her club as one of the teams to represent Great Britain at the prestigious event.
Being faced with fierce competition from across Europe was not enough to intimidate the tender talent of ten-year-old Claudia as she made her debut appearance on the international scene.
Claudia excelled in three different group routines in the modern and contemporary category, winning two silver medals for two of the routines.
She and Coventry also won one gold medal for their junior and senior group routine as they produced some dazzling displays.
Having proved herself on the European stage, there is no rest for Claudia as she prepares herself for her next challenge in Stoke-on-Trent.
The ambitious athlete has now returned to her strict training programme which sees her put herself through her paces for 12 hours a week.
