REDDITCH Entaco are showing no signs of relenting in their charge for the Worcestershire League Division Two title having chalked up a sixth win in seven matches at Bredon on Saturday.

A century from captain Greg Chinn set the platform for the Kingfishers’ 78-run victory which leaves them 37 points above second placed Chaddesley Corbett heading into Saturday’s visit of Worcester Dominies.

Redditch lost opener Jack Roberson and Russell Southwick early on but Chinn (102), Rizwan Choudry (39) and a breezy 39 from Tom Phelan repaired the damage.

Bredon bounced back with a clutch of wickets but an unbroken ninth-wicket partnership of 54 between Noman Choudry (37no) and Luke Shenton (11no) saw Redditch finish on 311-8 off their 50 overs.

In reply Bredon struggled against the pace of Waqas Ali and Noman Choudry and the latter in particular shone as he took 3-32 off ten overs.

Only Martin Hill (51) and Tim Fenny (35) offered any resistance as Bredon slipped to 233 all out, with Rizwan Choudry chipping in with 3-63.

THE 2NDS enjoyed a welcome home victory over Netherton in Division One 2nd XI as they won by one wicket in the final over.

Having been set 253 to win, Redditch were soon in trouble at 16-2 but teenagers Olly Mason (35), Naseek Hussain (29) and a magnificent 74 not out from 16-year-old Tanay Kulkarni saw the Kingfishers home.

Earlier in the day pace bowlers Tom Kitching (3-37) and Andy Elleray (2-47) took the wickets as Netherton scored 252-5 off their 50 overs.

Dan Protherough returns to the Redditch side this weekend as the 2nds visit second placed Stourport.

BARNT Green took the bragging rights in the 3rds and 4ths encounters.

The 3rds went down by four wickets in Division Five at Entaco. James Freeman scored 53 and took 3-21, whilst Adam Stokes made 43 for the hosts as Redditch were bowled out for 197.

Barnt Green opener Harrison Moncrieffe scored 81 as the visitors cruised home by four wickets.

The 4ths suffered a seven-wicket defeat in Division Five 2nd XI at Barnt Green as they were bowled out for just 118, with skipper Dean Ottley leading the way with 33 and Aleem Shahid chipping in with 27.

Barnt Green started well with opener Stephen Dodd finishing on 46 not out and Nike Jack (40) also doing the damage.

Droitwich are the opponents for the 3rds (away) and 4ths (home) on Saturday.
