Cheese runs out easy winner at Arrow Valley Lake

BARRY CHEESE ran out an easy winner of the second round of the Cadence Fishing Tackle/ Redditch Federation Spring League at Arrow Valley Lake on Saturday.

A good warm blow put the bream on the feed and Cheese, from Earlswood, was first with 64lb of fish to 4lb taken on groundbait feeder casting to the island on fancied peg 46.

Runner-up Shaun Little (Matrix) had a similar catch of 46lb also on the feeder from peg 54 ahead of Alf Hand (Worcester) in third place with 31 lb 9oz on 45.

Organiser John Bushell (Redditch Fed) with 29lb 12oz (35), with Scott Poynton (Rive) with 23lb 6oz (48) and Gerald Hemming (Worcester) with 19lb 14oz (57) rounded off the top six.




With two rounds still to be fished current joint league leaders are Cheese and Poynton both on three points with Colin Harvey, John Halfpenny and Mark Malin chasing hard on four.

The next round is on Saturday June 2.


THE Needles AC’s match at Alvechurch fisheries on Saturday was won by Barry Maskell with 79lbs 9ozs.

Mick Keen was second with 71lbs 8ozs, followed by Phil Smith with 70lbs 3ozs.

The section winners were Glyn Blewett (61lbs 14oz), Mark Rushworth (59lbs 11oz) and John Rushworth (53lbs 6oz).
