Busy Alvechurch draft in four new signings

Redditch Editorial 5th Aug, 2021   0

ALVECHURCH have continued their countdown to the new season by signing goalkeeper Dan Jezeph, defender Ethan Patterson and strikers Danny Waldron and Tolani Omotola.

The 24-year-old Jezeph, who started his career with West Bromwich Albion and Walsall, joins from Worcester City where he had been No 1 for the last few seasons. After leaving Walsall, he had joined Tamworth.

Waldron makes the switch to Lye Meadow from Leamington. The striker, who can play across the front line, had joined the Brakes in the summer of 2020, having made a big impact with Rushall Olympic, scoring nearly 50 goals in 125 games. He had first made his name at Halesowen Town.

Boss Ian Long has also bolstered his strikeforce with former Barwell and Coalvile Town forward Omotola.

The 23-year-old German-born player made his debut in Tuesday’s 3-1 friendly win against Sutton Coldfield Town

Omotola started his career at Tranmere Rovers and has had spells at Witton Albion, Burscough, Ramsbottom and Corby Town.

Centre-back Patterson has impressed in Church`s pre-season friendlies. He was a regular captain of Aston Villa’s U18s but was released at the end of the 2019 season. He then had a spell in Iceland.

On Tuesday, the Church fell behind inside the opening minute when Reece Gibson finished off a smart move by visitors Sutton but it was 1-1 after 10 minutes with a stunning finish from Charlie Dowd.

Dowd then fired Church ahead on 53 minutes and Waldron wrapped up matters 15 minutes from time.

It followed a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City U23s last Friday, when former Church striker Jake Wakeling returned to score a goal.
